Acuity One History

Acuity One was launched in 1998 by Bruce A. Bridgewater, OD to bring innovative concepts to the eye care industry.  The Company’s first product (UltraVue) was a revolutionary, multifocal, hydrogel contact lens technology, which was ultimately acquired by CooperVision, Inc.

Acuity One currently markets Clearion custom spherical, toric, and multifocal hydrogel lenses that offer parameter options beyond ranges available in disposable modalities.

In late 2009, Acuity One executed a limited launch of it Clearion dual-hinge CustomGP lenses that offers practitioners the option to independently design 3 lens zones and better approximate complex corneal topographies.  In 2011,  Acuity One rebranded its dual-hinge design to Clearion Custom 3-Zone Architecture GP, which it believes better describes its unique design capabilities.  This advanced contact lens technology better addresses visual and comfort intolerances limiting patients with irregular corneal topographies and / or refractive states.  It’s also an excellent option to piggyback applications, as the independent zones can better wrap around base silicone hydrogel lens parameters.

Acuity One also owns the exclusive North American rights to aQuatens, a novel eyewear lens cleaner developed in Germany.  This non-rub cleaning system helps preserve high end eyewear lens treatments and promotes a smudge / debris free lens surface.  Acuity One’s distribution system was designed to most conveniently allow patient access to these advanced contact lens and eyewear lens systems.

Acuity One now sells its range of custom contact lens products to several thousand eye care practitioners throughout North America.
